The Apple Tablet Will Be a Failure!

Unless you’ve been hiding under an internet rock, you’ve heard of Apple and a tablet. In fact, you’ve probably been hearing about it for years now! The rumors have resurfaced again, but this time, comments are being made with more conviction.

Supposedly now, Apple wants to launch this tablet this fall, and there are even specs and design descriptions floating around. Sporting a 10-inch screen, the device (most likely encapsulated in aluminum with unibody construction and a glass screen) has been under development for years now, but His Jobness hadn’t approved of it until recently.

Lord Jobs is said to have reset the entire project many times because he wants it to be essentially perfect, and apparently, it’s almost there now. However, based on the specs that have been leaked, I’m not so sure about that! It’s supposed to be powered by some sort of ARM processor similar to the one in the iPhone 3GS, use a multi-touch controller also borrowed from the HolyPhone and do things like play videos, listen to music and surf the web.

Can’t your iPhone do that? Can’t Nokia N800 and N810 tablets do that? What is so unique and awesome about this oversized, overpriced iPod? They say it’ll be around a grand, which is just the most wonderful price point for a device that can’t do squat. Does it cost more than a laptop? Check. Does it do less than a laptop? Double check.

Apple has always taken flak for coming up with overpriced, underachieving products, from the iMac (2.66 GHz dual-core CPU for how much?) to the Mac Pro (hmm, Mac Pro or car?), obviously the Macbook Air (nearly two grand, performance of a $600 laptop) and even the Macbook Pros (two grand for what now?). Their only real successes have been the iPod and the iPhone, and I think it’s obvious as to why – they revolutionized the industry they entered.

Does the GodBook Pro do that? Definitely not. If its supposed to be an Apple competitor to netbooks, it epicly fails, because not only does it not compete in price, it doesn’t even compare in capability. You can’t install mainstream programs on it, so you’ll be limited to apps like “Weather” and “World Clock” and other such excrement. They can add an app store for these little apps, but who will want to develop for a product that no one will buy? How many people will see value in something costing a grand and doing very, very little? Even the much-criticized Macbook Air is at least a real laptop and can run real operating systems with a proper dual-core CPU.

Mark my words, the Apple tablet will be their reality check, and will remind Apple of all the mistakes they made pre-iPod. No black turtleneck and glowing white Apple logo will save it this time!
